A 1.5 day cross-sectoral seminar to share practices, develop methods and approaches to target excluded groups, tackle barriers and widen participation in formal and non-formal learning.
This project follows on from the successful Social Inclusion Conference that was hosted by the UK National Agency for Erasmus+ in December 2014 and has been be planned in accordance with the recommendations and outcomes of the ‘Tackling barriers – widening participation’ workshop.

Hosted by the UK National Agency, this seminar focuses on the theme of ‘Re-engaging People with Educational Barriers in Non-Formal and Formal Education’. The principal aim will be to collectively develop methods and approaches to target excluded groups, tackle barriers and widen participation; particularly focusing on young people with learning difficulties, early school leavers, lower qualified persons and young people with poor school performance. We will look to stimulate cross-sectoral cooperation to tackle educational barriers, through the opportunities available in the Erasmus+ programme.

Objectives

- Stimulate TCA cross-sectoral cooperation between Youth, Vet, Adult Education, and Schools in the reengagement of young people with Educational Barriers.

- Provide space for sharing of good practices particularly looking at each sector’s unique approach

- Conduct analysis of case studies on successful partnerships in projects addressing Educational Barriers projects

- Discuss how such projects can be realised through a European dimension particularly through Erasmus+

- Use recommendations and outputs for further planning and development of the project

Through active attendance participants will:

- Become aware of what support is available through the Erasmus+ programme, and with reference to the Inclusion and Diversity Strategy

- Be inspired by good practices from different sectors and countries

- Take back practical tools and approaches through analysis of case studies, that can be applied or adapted in their local context

- Increase in knowledge of Erasmus+ and how it can be used to engage and support young people with educational barriers

- Be provided with the opportunity to network with cross-sectoral organisations to create new partnerships
