The 14th edition of the International Tool Fair, #Know-how, will take place in November 4-8, 2019 in Rovaniemi, Finland.

Tool Fair XIV - #Know-how will provide a stimulating environment for varied approaches and practices for those working in a field of youth work. The aim is to promote recognition and quality in youth work and support capacity building and know-how of youth work and youth workers.
 

This will be supported and developed through innovative approaches and practices that allow the participants to explore the theme in different levels. The Tool Fair is composed of:

Tools to Explore – thematic sessions offer novel approaches of working with youth workers and/or young people.  One Tool to Explore consists of 3 x 1,5 hours program slots and allowing the participants to gain deeper understandings of the tool.

TF Talks - are inspirational talks challenging the participants thinking and offering them philosophical considerations. 

Tools’ Workshops – sessions offer tools that are good examples and best practices in working with young people. Workshops are run by the Tool Fair participants.

Tools Market – a youth work bazaar where participants can present their tools and/or stroll around to get the flavor what all is going on.

The Tools Workshops run by the participants are the highly appreciated opportunities for perr-learning and sharing tools for learning with colleagues in an international context.  (http://educationaltoolsportal.eu/en/tools-learning-non-formal-education)

Beyond merely experiencing a wide variety of tools for learning, the Tool Fair aims to provide a space to reflect on tools, give and receive feedback for further development of the tools. Tools for learning and learning process at European level, complementing the two educational tools websites managed by the SALTO-YOUTH EuroMed Resource Centre: the Multilingual Educational Tools Portal (http://educationaltoolsportal.eu/) and the SALTO-YOUTH Toolbox for Training and Youth Work (http://www.salto-youth.net/tools/toolbox), in coherence with the European Training Strategy.
 

Objectives 

The Tool Fair will support youth workers in:

  • sharing about, learning and reflecting on how to apply competences and education of youth workers on different levels and in different contexts to one’s own reality.
  • sharing knowledge, being challenged, getting inspired and critically reflecting on youth policy, research and studies of youth work and society.
  • exploring, learning from and supporting further development of practice and methods of working with young people.
  • engaging, connecting and experiencing youth work in context, while linking practice to local reality.


Theme

The theme for the International Tool Fair XIV is YOUTH WORK KNOW-HOW (competences, approaches, pedagogies and practices) with special focus on the following topics:

  • Definition, Recognition, Youth Work Education
  • Research and Studies of youth work and society
  • Practice and methods
  • Practices, tools, approaches for education and training of youth workers
  • Tools that youth workers use to work with young people
     

Expected profile of participants:
The working language of the event will be English therefore the participants should be comfortable working in English.

Applications are open for participants who have an interest in the development of competences, approaches, pedagogies and practices fostering quality of youth work and competences of youth workers, who are willing to share and present a tool for learning which is related to the theme, and who are working directly with young people or youth workers.
 

Tool Fair XIV is particularly directed at:

  • Youth workers
  • Youth policy makers
  • People working directly with youth
  • Youth leaders, leaders of youth groups or representatives of youth organisations (local, regional, national, European, international…)
  • Youth project managers
  • Trainers, facilitators, coaches
  • Business sector representatives working with youth
  • NA representatives (Youth)


Criteria

  • Able to communicate in English
  • Willing to run a Tools Workshop
  • Devoted to participating in the full process of the activity
  • Have visions and plans how to use what they learned in their work
  • Have the potential to develop their competencies in relation to the objectives of the activity

Costs
Participation fee
This project is financed by the participating NAs of the the Erasmus+ programme.  

The participation fee varies from country to country. Please contact your NA to learn more about the participation fee for participants from your country.

Accommodation and food
The hosting National Agency of this offer will organise the accommodation and covers the costs for accommodation and food.

Travel reimbursement
This project is financed by the participating NAs of the Erasmus+ programme. 
Please contact your Erasmus+ Youth in Action NA to learn more about the financial details, and how to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.

For applicants from Partner Countries Neighbouring the EU, the following partners should be contacted in case of further questions because these partners will select applicants from these regions and will cover the travel costs:
